In November 2015, the American Heart Association released new recommendations on the correct way to administer CPR. Our CPR Poster has been updated to include these new guidelines.

    The new American Heart Association CPR Guidelines include:

    • Recommendation that the rescuer use a mobile device to call 911 allowing the dispatcher to assist the rescuer with determining their location, and assisting with CPR instructions.
    • Changes to the number of chest compressions from 100 to between 100 and 120 per minute.
    • Changes to the depth of each chest compression from at least 2 inches to at least 2 inches but no more than 2.4 inches.
    • Recommendation that trained CPR rescuers attempt 2 breaths (Untrained rescuers should continue with hands-only CPR)
